Family Tree featured in CUT ME UP Magazine, Issue No.9

My collage "Family Tree" will be published in CUT ME UP magazine Issue No. 9. This issue is juried by artist & designer Laurent Seljan. The theme is SCARS AND ALL, with this description "Collage can be a metaphor for how we piece together the fragments of our lives. In our attempts to create a seamless, cohesive self, we may repress difficult emotions or conceal our flaws to create a smooth, presentable surface. But what is the real self beneath?"

Tree X-Ray to be shown in Small Works: Cycle at WAAM.

My drawing "Tree X-Ray" will be in the exhibition "Small Works: Cycle" juried by Christy Rupp, at WAAM (Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, NY). Commercial photos of trees were cut up, re-arranged & glued down, with a pale acrylic wash to bind together an overall image of a tree trunk, as if it were an X-Ray photo revealing the inner struggles of the living tree.

Tree 4 on exhibition in Small Works: Largeness Writ Small at WAAM, Woodstock, NY.

My drawing Tree 4 (10" x 8") will be included in the exhibition Small Works: Largeness Writ Small at WAAM (Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, NY). For this exhibition of small works, juror Buzz Spector selected works that explore how medium and technique impact the perception of scale. Largeness Writ Small proves that even the grandest ideas can be portrayed in small format.

Forest Bathing is a concept that originated in Japan in the 1980’s as an antidote to an increasingly technological and alienating world. The idea is to mindfully walk in the woodlands and reconnect with the sounds, smells. colors and texture of nature. Forest Bathing is prescribed by Japanese physicians as a medical cure to calm stressed nerves, mitigate pain and heal the soul.
