One of the 4 books in this edition is now in the Museum of Modern Art/ Franklin Furnace Artists Book Collection in New York City. These handmade paper books were created during a residency at the Dieu Donné Papermill in New York City. Discarded steel forms- "lost objects"- were cast into the wet pages and allowed to rust. The resulting sheets were stitched into book forms to create time-based sequences of visual narratives, questioning the concept of the book as an object of power, education, personal and cultural memory. The seemingly fragile pages, with the positive and negative shapes of each object "trapped" in the folds like fossils in rock, bring to mind books of biological specimens, which is further enhanced by the organic stains caused by the bleeding rust. Books 1-7 have been displayed individually, and in an installation format to heighten the preciousness and vulnerability of the books as objects of significance.
